Farming in South Africa is one of the most dangerous professions in the world. The murder rate for farmers is 313 per 100 000 per year according to a statement in July 2007 by Freedom Front spokesperson, Pieter Groenewald (Source) - about eight times higher than the reported national average murder rate. Farm attacks in SA are also 7 times higher than any other country in the world. Since 1994 more than 1600 farmers were killed. White people are in most cases the victims - there is, however, a perception that whites are the only victims. A very comprehensive report about farm attacks was released by the South African Police Service in July 2003. The entire report can be found here: ISS. One of the findings was that there were 1398 farm attacks in 2001. 61.6% of the victims were white, 33.3% black, 4.4% colored and 0.7% Indian. However, the chance that a white farmer will be injured/murdered during a farm attack is considerably higher than any other race group. In 2002, Colonel Schoeman (who studied farm attacks for years at that point of time), senior staff officer of the chief of joint operations, said that black farmers are 80% more likely to be attacked and that the number of black victims are increasing. The 2007 crime figures for farm attacks showed a small decline in the amount of farm murders.

The perpetrators were well armed with pistols, a stun gun and tear gas. They held the victims hostage for more than four hours of terror in this security complex and searched the two houses the families shared methodically and thoroughly for all valuables. They were totally profesional like trained policemen.
They separated the children from their parents, raped a forty year old mother of two, sexually assaulted another mother, assaulted the men repeatedly and man handled the children between the ages of 14 and 4 years.
One of the husbands had to undergo a operation in Nelspruit to attach a torn muscle and the assaulted woman will need dental surgery once her face has healed sufficiently from being kicked repeatedly.
When they left they threw some more tear gas, barred the door and opened the gas in an attempt to gas all of them. Fortunately one of them managed to force a door open. They stole one of the vehicles as a getaway car.
Towns and villages along the Mocambican border are regularly targeted by criminals who flee back into Mocambique and Rhino are regularly poached for their horns by criminals operating from across the border.
The first and most likely mistake made by victims are the next 1 leave keys at servants 2 give remotes to servants
