Contributions needed
As I am a student, I don't have much time, apart from my holidays, to do research and write articles. I would appreciate if volunteers e.g. blog owners, freelance journalists or criminologists would allow me to place their articles (credit will be given to the author). Articles just need to be in line with the mission of the website (see About). Contact meWant your website or blog listed?

Yes, there is crime everywhere...but it is not right having to keep your gate locked and wait to have someone with you before you go out somewhere.
I'm moving back to SA soon and it's going to be a heck of an adjustment going from absolute freedom and confidence to hiding behind closed doors again. Not exactly ideal is it?
From our experience people in South Africa have gotten into “pretend mode”, that is to protect yourselves from the unreal lifestyles you hold
Homes with bars an every window and rape gates
Locking yourself in cars as soon as you are on the road
Driving through red lights in-case of attack
Children’s play “zones” with razor wire to keep out attackers
And the list goes on & on & on
It would seem that this has become the “norm” for people living in South Africa but I can assure you, it is NOT the norm by world standards.
South Africa is a beautiful country but is plagued with crime which is mostly, violent crime.
Don’t lie in hope of attracting more tourists; sort out the problems you are faced with and people WILL want to come because they will feel safe to enjoy the country.
Moving out of denial is the first step forward to addressing the problem.
