I just wonder if the family of the Austrian tourist shot and killed for his mobile on a Golf course in Durban during FIFA’s visit to Durban would feel that the Crime situation in SA is overrated and taken out of context? I say suppress all reporting about Crime in SA give as much misinformation as you want and let the 300K football fans come to SA to see for them selves. Who really cares if a few tourists get’s shot. SA is such beautiful country, to die for.

I guess living in Cape Town you don't really experience the terror of living in south africa. Opening the newspaper this morning and reading about the slaughter happening in Pretoria makes my blood boil. A woman in her 40's and a 3 year old baby murdered and raped in the course of 1 week only a few houses apart makes you think if you really portray the truth about South Africa. Wake-up! These murders are not made up - they are real, and we read about them everyday! START TELLING THE TRUTH!!!

Whether or not CESA are telling the truth or not... one thing is not a lie and that there is a problem with the crime situation of RSA. You try to justify the murder rate in South Africa of that of Israel.....what a joke..... Where is the war in South Africa????? Get your nose out of your ass and smell the blood around you. Post this and leave our comment. Xpat

Living in the UK and having just come back after traveling the world for the last 2 years I can be very naive and say about the crime in SA as, what crime? I am not naive but I am not negative. I was a policeman in South Africa for 5 years and eventually leaving the service in 1996. I know what crime is like having seen it first hand as a cop.

But SA is a amazing country with amazing people. The majority of South Africans are honest hardworking people. The criminals, the minority, driven by greed. If one look at the crime profile in SA I can almost bet you that loads of the crimes are by repeat offenders. Its greed that motivates them, not poverty.

As I am a student, I don't have much time, apart from my holidays, to do research and write articles. I would appreciate if volunteers e.g. blog owners, freelance journalists or criminologists would allow me to place their articles (credit will be given to the author). Articles just need to be in line with the mission of the website (see About). Contact me

A country at war with itself: Antony Altbeker

Getting behind the statistics to offer a sober and sobering account of the scale of the crime problem and its evolution, the book describes how government has sometimes sought to deal with the crisis and sometimes sought to deny its existence. The book ends with some suggestions of what needs to be done to deal with this scourge. Buy
